Quaker Ladies in the Garden
My little Quaker Hitty Mary Ann was thrilled to hear about a new family in town…
.
.
…she went out to the garden to visit…
.
.
…and made welcoming overtures.
.
.
Both our Quaker Ladies seem to be thriving – especially with each other for company…
.
.
Mary Ann has been spending a lot of time out there, reading to her new plant friend and hoping to make it feel at home in our garden…
.
.
…the Quaker Lady is a beautiful iris; small, delicately shaded and lovely! One of my friends gave us a tuber of this historic variety, divided from the clump in her garden – we shall love having them in our garden!

I didn’t know there was a type of Iris called a Quaker Lady.
I didn’t know either until my friend introduced me to them! I just love them.
Having friends is a major blessing in one’s life. Mary Ann appears loyal to this pretty newcomer.
We have visited the Quaker Ladies in my friend’s garden for several years – Mary Ann enjoyed the visits, but is looking forward to have some Friends nearer-by.
There is something very special about a bloom shared by a friend.
It is a lovely thing to look out my window and think of my friend and her garden!
I love that too!
Mary Ann is such a dear Hitty. I love her interaction with her Iris name sake. We have some of these in our Iris collection…they are not as flashy as some blooms but ever so nice.
We really like their subtlety and grace, Mary Ann looks up to them!
