Hang on to your Hats!
Henrietta and Willa advise the Hittys to hang on to their hats…

…we got hit by a “bomb cyclone” . This image from Nullschool, was taken yesterday as the wind was building. The Quimper Hitty cupboard is at the point of the white arrow.

This morning we can see the results of hurricane force winds and power outages; with debris and stuff all over the place…

…trees are down leading to road closures…and we are not through the storm yet!

Tuesday says it might be a good idea to stay indoors today…

…and even Gráinne agreed though she quite likes a good storm.

I hope that you and yours stay safe in this incredible storm! ❤
WE expect storms in November but this was a doozy! We are lucky – everyone in the cupboard is safe, dry, and still have electricity! We are lucky!
they all seemed to have hung onto their hats! I worried about you in the night when I was worrying about everything. Love all the beautiful coats. Your work is amazing. Stay safe.
We only went outside for just a minute or two – and we held on tight to our hats, bonnets, and touques! I worried about people in the storm too…it was a bit scary!
I’m so glad that hats, Hittys and humans have stayed safe during this major weather event you’re all experiencing. Thank you for letting us know how you are.
It’s been a busy storm season already, but we’ve been lucky so far…the Hitty cupboard is on a little peninsula really close to the sea, so we are used to wind, but this was pretty wild!
I hope all the Hittys and their humans stay safe and warm. Perhaps some of that fallen wood might give birth to new Hittys in the fullness of time…
We have made some storm dolls – Sitka from a spruce tree, and Tephra from a Chestnut, Floradora came from a broken Dogwood branch, and Abby (who now lives with Onesmallstitch) from a Cherry tree limb…we’ll see if some wood comes our way! The branches and trees in our yard were too small for Hittys, maybe some toothpicks, or kindling!
I love the idea of a Hitty sub-family of Storm Dolls. Lightning-born, perhaps!
That looks like a serious storm. Stay safe and well. Clearing up can be done when all the wind has passed. The Hittys look well wrapped up and I hope the humans are too with a fire to cwtch in by.
Cwtch – our new favourite word! The Hittys are experts at cwtching already, they just didn’t know the word yet! We are safe and well thanks be.
It is a lovely word!
Oh dear Hitty Lady, I hope you are all in safe… Happening such a big weather events in last days. By the way beautiful hats, coats, I loved them as always. Thank you for this link, it is amazing. I saw my country too right now there is a very dark clouds, rain and strong wind. Today airplanes couldn’t land İstanbul airports. Because of the wind. Be in safe my dear Hittly Lady, Thank you, Love, nia
Thank you Nia, we weathered the storm…now we are having more rain and wind, but there is much less impact. Several more storms are lined up ready to come to us – I have a feeling it is going to be a very wet winter for us. I love that website – it’s so interesting to see how all the weather of the world is related!
I see dear Hitty Lady, we have to be ready for all these weather events. I here, yesterday there was a storm (not like yours or i USA) but damaged many houses, trees, etc. Nothing happens as before… Be in safe, You are welcome, Hugs and Love, nia
Glad you are mostly unscathed. Looks like a close call. Oh, those wee felt coats! 😍
We love all our wee coats – the lovely embroidered ones were made by a dear friend who has a magical needle!
so glad that all is well in the Quimper home and cupboard. The girls are so intrepid peeking out into the yard. Great photos as always!!
