Another Woods Walk

Path

Coriander came to Fancis/King Park near Victoria with me.ย  One of it’s many trails is wide, flat, and has a low grade designed for push chairs, wheelchairs and people with mobility issues…

.

.

boardwalk

…there are nice boardwalks over the soggy areas (very soggy after all the recent rain!)…

.

.

.

Douglas Fir

…and the path wends around and through and close enough to some of the magnificent old trees that you can touch the bark…

.

.

.

moss

…and their mossy veils.

.

.

Indigenous Harvest

Some informative signs explain how First Nations people can sustainably harvest bark from the cedar trees…

.

.

Rain

…and we stopped here to reflect on the wonderfulness of the rain, which keeps this beautiful temperate rainforest alive…

.

.

Lucky

…we are so lucky to be able to walk here.

  1. That looks a lovely place and how brilliant that there are paths allowing everyone to enjoy it not just those who are able to walk easily.

    • The luxurious moss is so evocative of the old growth forests, we really appreciate these parks for preserving the ecosystems and in this making it available for people with mobility issues. If you like moss especially, have a look at some of the Haida Gwaii posts!
