Quaker Lady
My little Quaker Hitty Mary Ann made her annual visit to her friends in the garden…
.
.
…she admired the Volunteer Columbine…
.
.
…and visited with the Granny’s Bonnet Columbine for a while…
.
.
…and chatted with the chives…
.
.
…but she spent most of the afternoon with her best friend the Quaker Lady…
.
.
…a beautiful iris; small, delicately shaded and lovely! It is so pleasant to spend time with a Friend in the Garden!

Spring is springing in your garden! Thank you for sharing that beautiful Iris!
You are welcome – (and so is Spring welcome in our garden!) We love the iris – its beautiful restrained colours and shading.
Chatting with a mutual friend is very comforting. I enjoy seeing Mary Ann with her annual friend. Our irises too have started opening just a day or so ago.
Spending time with a friend is a balm in worrisome and complicated times, and I know Mary Ann feels comforted and more peaceful after spending time with Friends, even when they are simply being quiet together..
Mary Ann is beautifully plain, in the Quaker sense: appropriate, modest and neat. Even her namesake iris is quite subdued, unlike the loudly shouting beauties Jean is currently enjoying!
It is Iris-time in Victoria! I am very very fond of this quiet Quaker Lady…Did you know that the Spanish word for rainbow is Arco Iris? It means Iris Bow (or Arch of Irises)…I like to remember that and think that all the colours of the rainbow are important, the quiet ones and the shouty!
Beautiful doll and lovely images 🙂
Thank you – Mary Ann was carved in Argentina and painted and dressed at Pendle Hill, Pennsylvania. She has always been a good Friend.
So international – awesome!
Mary Ann always makes me smile with her gentle ways. I enjoyed seeing her in your lovely garden and especially with her name sake Iris.
Mary Ann is a Quiet Hitty, but very sweet. The Hittys all love the garden as does their human, but the Quaker Lady Iris is Mary Ann’s special friend!
It is indeed lovely to spend time with a friend in a garden!
