Scrap Hatty

Grey and Wet

Grey days, grey clouds, grey nights, grey rain, grey fog, grey everything…

.

.

Grey Balls of yarn

…including leftover balls of yarn, also grey.

.

.

Grey Fingerless Mitts

A lot of grey around, so I dived into it – I knitted fingerless mittens for my sister – the red accents (umbrellas and Latvian Braid) are made of leftover red yarn from a skein I bought in Sweden.

.

Yellow Ball of yarn

However Vanilla thought it was time to interject some more sunshiny colours into my knitting!

.

Hat-Knitting

I used up most of the leftover yarn from a Noro Yukata shawl I knit a couple of years ago, alternated with a beautiful sunny yellow which came out of someone else’s scrap pile.

.

Tiny scrap

The shawl is below, the new hat above, and one very last scrap of Noro…(what will I do with it!?)

.

.

Scrap Hat

…how soft and beautiful it is..

.

.

Sleeping bag

…another Hitty sleeping bag (according to Vanilla) but in fact destined to be my sunny scrappy hat…

.

.

Blocked

…and look!

.

.

Sunny!

The sun came out!

.

.

Thrums

…my forest troll seems to collect thrums. I wonder what he plans to do with them!?

ScrapHappy is a group of bloggers (links below) who post monthly about using up scraps! All genuine scraps are allowed, and any material. Blog posts are published on the 15th of the month – I really love to see what people are doing with bits and pieces saved from the scrap heaps! If you think you’d like to join the group, contact Kate who devised it with a Swedish friend – her blog is the first link below:

  1. Gorgeous hat, just like a cool winter sunrise! Those mittens are fabulous too, the detail is amazing. I wonder if the Hittys could use another quilt? I have no purpose in mind any longer for my teeny tiny hexies, and it struck me they might make a nice Hitty quilt or rug. What do you think? And if yes, what size would be useful?
