Goodbye Penny

What’s a Hitty to do?
Canada has decided the penny is superfluous. As of today, Canadian pennies will be neither made nor distributed by banks. They are still legal tender in shops, but only until they run out. Hattie is sad, and puts her last Canadian penny into her shoulder bag, along with the also defunct 1900 English penny.

Hattie’s dress really is very becoming on her. She looks sad at the loss of the beautiful coin that matches her hair color.

She likes her copper-coloured hair and is glad you didn’t call it “red”.

The Quimper Hittys are all wondering what they should pick up now to attract random days of luck.

Oh dear, a sad day when the pennies disappear.

It will take a while for them to disappear completely. They will drift around for a while I expect, before they trickle away.

Those British pennies were big. The ones with Queen Victoria are worth keeping. Glad Hattie has one of those. Sad to see the Canadian pennies go too !!!

That is one gigantic penny to a Hitty – we like it for it’s size!

One day the ridiculous politicians who decide such things will become defunct. This is my dream.

Or at least the ridiculous decisions maybe?
