Read Island Walk
The wooden girls feel right at home in the woods, and much of Read Island is forested. Here they are gazing at a damp gully from inside a tree throw.
.
.
A little higher up the hill and the view opens out onto a mossy bit of bedrock overlooking an abandoned farm.
.
.
Tansy decided to go a little higher and was temporarily stuck in some lichen tangles.
.
.
Constance preferred the view from the ground where she encountered a pretty garter snake trying to warm itself in a sunny patch of leaves.
.
.
The girls all enjoyed their forest stroll, but occasionally had the feeling they were being watched.
.
.
Fifteen minutes horizontal in the soft moss did wonders to recharge their xylem for the walk back to the cabin.
.
.

I hope that snake did not crawl over Constance’s lap – that would have been creepy.
Lots of nice pictures here, especially the first one and the one with the bear!
The snake was actually rather sluggish, slithering slowly past Constance’s toes. She admired its stripes and sinuous movement.
Lovely nature! Gorgeous pinnys!
It was lovely weather there, and beautiful woods and hills. Thank you for the pinafore compliment – each one suits a different Hitty according to the mood. They all share!
what wonderful photos….those girls have the best adventures. Just loved every picture, every scene. Made me
feel good just looking and reading.
Thank You! I enjoyed the trip, and taking the pictures, and I am enjoying reliving it by putting together the blog posts!
She encountered a snake like her ancestor Hitty did, not quite as exotic, but a snake nonetheless…..
She was very brave.
Yes! if Constance’s hair had not been so firmly painted onto her head, it might have stood on end!
