The Magic Flute

Papagena

Papagena

We had a very pleasant afternoon today – Constance and her Human got some work done while listening to CBC Saturday Afternoon at the Opera, a “Live from the Met” presentation of Mozart’s Magic Flute.

We are very fond of this production – we saw it live in person at the Metropolitan Opera in January three years ago, watching from standing room stalls…Constance and I closed our eyes and imagined ourselves back under the chandeliers – what a great experience that was, and a lasting memory!

  1. OH Constance you are an inspiration to us here in the hinterlands. With your opera and world travels and yet you
remain a lovely and personable little Miss. Not a snobby twig in your whole body
Love those birds and that wonderful bird cage!

    • Constance is blushing. and is glad you like reading about her to-ings and fro-ings! The bird cage has been my favourite Christmas Tree Decoration for 50 years, since I first spotted it on my Grandma’s tree! We are so happy it found it’s way to us!

  2. Constance is an Opera fan – She know more about Opera than most of us and she is always willing to share her experience. I remember her sitting in the audience watching The Magic Flute. Love this picture of her with the bird cage. Wonder what Bobo would say……..

    • I am sure Bobo would be unimpressed with the characters of Papageno and Papagena and their birdcatching activities, but they are essential to the story! Constance is very fond of all her little wooden birds, and the little caged one is a special heirloom

  3. I LOVE the Julie Taymor production of the Magic Flute- and was listening to it last Saturday while at my loom, weaving 🙂 How absolutely wonderful that Constance saw it live! Such a lucky dolly!

    • We love listening to the CBC Saturday Afternoon at the Opera, and very much enjoy going to the Live in HD presentations from the Metropolitan Opera, but nothing beats seeing and hearing an Opera production in person…even in the standing room stalls!
