Perdita enjoys a little sit under a bouquet of orchids…
.
.
She climbs right up into the flowers to see if the smell as nice as they look.

Other creatures have other designs on the foliage.

M-m-m delicious!
A perfectly peaceful interlude…

Until it isn’t!

Poor Perdita! Such a shock! Hope she recovers her equanimity soon! eek!
Perdita says there are about 11,000 kinds of grasshoppers in the world – and the ones in Argentina are very large, though not quite as large as this one!
Oh dear Perdita!! The Country Hittys feel your pain!! This looks like something Horrid Hetty Hickory would do to us!! Are you sure that you do not have some malevolent “other” helping this giant grasshopper? We hope that
you are able to recover from this shock. Perhaps a nice cup of chamomile tea will help.
as always…great photos and story!! Realy enjoyed it.
I wondered where he came from – does Hetty have the address of the Hitty cupboard? Chamomile tea sounds good…
What a great big grass-hopper – Hope he did not scare Perdita – Insects and other garden creatures often share our flowers, but most are harmless – Great photos. !!!
Thanks! Perdita is still quivering! We think the grasshopper is probably harmless, but a bit clumsy with all those legs!
Oh my! Poor Perdita, what a shocking discovery in such beautiful flowers. I hope that some leaves were left over for the vase. That seems to be a very hungry grasshopper.
She was surprised, but she is also used to large insects, coming from the wilds of Argentina where grasshoppers really do get almost that big!
