Creatures and Beasts at HCP
Hitty Constance thought she might run into some small people on her visit to the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific. There were numerous small dwellings sprinkled about here and there throughout the gardens. This one reminded us of the Little House in the Big Woods, but alas, no tiny Laura Ingalls came out to play.
However while Constance admired the stunning Japanese Maple tree,
.
.
She found a delightful camouflaged caterpillar. Unfortunately it was too focused on crunching and munching to talk with her (and it’s mouth was always full).
.
.
…A rather ornate, but dilapidated house seemed to be buzzing with activity.
.
.
…but the bumblebees therein had a frantic pace and no time for frivolity…
.
.
She did eventually find some hopping, creeping creatures willing to slow down enough to have a little chat. After a while though, she found their roaring and staring conversational style a bit hard going…
.
.
…and needed a little rest to recover her equilibrium.

Ah, thank goodness for places of refuge. Delightful!
A truly delightful place to visit! Constance was extremely pressing in suggesting that I get a membership…
As always, I am enchanted and delighted by the Quimper Hitty’s adventures! Thank you!!! And thank you again for revealing the treasure that the HCP is!
We’ve passed the signpost on the road so many times, I am embarrassed that we’ve not been there before now! I feel it will be a regular destination from now on.
Hitty Madison and the girls were thrilled to see the small houses that dot the grounds. They have been urging me to do the same thing in our flower gardens. So far we have 6 small houses scattered about. Thank you for the inspiration to do some more. Also….we LOVED the caterpillar!!! What a colorful fellow. Thanks!!
We also saw birdhouses inhabited by birds, and bat houses! A lovely idea to support wildlife in the area…of course one of the main reasons for all the fencing is to keep the deer out!
Oh we loved all the little houses, what fun they were. A really lovely place to visit.
We certainly had fun, and Constance thought the little houses were charming, even if no new playmates appeared.
