Tatting
The Quimper Hitty human found some lace at an estate sale…
.
.
Tatty enthusiastically wheedles – she thinks it might make a nice shawl!
.
.
or possibly a skirt…but the Quimper Hitty human is strangely reluctant to cut up the lace!
.
.
Tatty is mollified when the Hitty’s favourite photographer produces a trinket he bought specially for her – now she thinks she might have a go at making tatted lace herself!

Oooh, such beautiful tatting, and what a gorgeous shuttle! Lucky Tatty!
We have a new appreciation for tatting in this household – Tatty especially likes the blue scrap!
Tatty, good luck with your lace making project. I myself am trying (very very trying) to master needle tatting.
Great pics and wonderful lace!! And that little shuttle is so precious.
The Hitty’s favourite photographer does make a habit of spoiling them! The wee shuttle came from “Silent Stitches”

Tatty, I’m glad that you are from a curious and inquiring cupboard. It’s so nice to see such a huge variety of interests from your cupboard.
We do find the textile arts very interesting! Never a dull moment in the Hitty Cupboard!!
it would be a shame to cut the lace. It looks beautiful hanging in front of the curtain with the light shining through. Tatting is something I could never master, good luck Tatty.
Cutting it would be difficult! I think we’ll leave it alone for now, and maybe apply it to a circle of linen some day!
Very pretty tatting! We are quite taken by it here!
We liked it too!
Tatting is so delicate and beautiful. Humans did an awesome job.
That is beautiful lace isn’t it – we love finding pretty scraps in the charity shops, but this doesn’t quite qualify as a scrap!
Lovely tatting lace, I quite understand the human being unable to cut it up! I hope Tatty makes good progress with her lace making…she seems to be making a good start.
I am not sure how far Tatty will get with it – she looks to me like she might not have a lot of patience!
With a name like Tatty, I can quite see why you love the idea of using the lace for your own garments, but perhaps you could learn to make some yourself whith your beautiful shuttle. Our Person’s grandma used to tat and we might have some of her work somewhere. We will get our larger friend, Clara, to look as she is in charge of searching for and caring for older items around the Person’s home.
Love,
Roberta Not-Quite-Hitty xx
Constance has a very nice scrap of tatting on her favourite dress and Tatty has that nice scrap of blue that a Hitty friend gave us…We are now on the lookout for scraps that I have the nerve to attack with scissors!
It seems that Tatty deserves a few nice things. I hope she finds some time to learn to tat now that she has a shuttle. Or perhaps she can use it to make a fishing net and help feed the QH family.
Good Plan! Maybe she can fix up that shipwreck, go to sea and catch a few wee fishies!
Hi! I have been visiting your bog for several weeks and am quite charmed by your sweet Hitty girls & happenings. The tatting is gorgeous! What a lovely find. Blessings!
Hi Carolyn – nice to meet you. We loved that piece of tatting too – especially Tatty!
