The Meistersinger
Yesterday morning, Constance and her human went to the Live in HD broadcast of The Meistersinger by Richard Wagner….it was very long, six hours total including two intermissions. We left the house in the dark and didn’t get home until it was dark again! The music was lovely but Constance may have fallen asleep at one point, though she isn’t admitting it.

I confess that I might have joined Constance in her non nap…..SIX hours??!!! yep definitely a little snooze especially if the seats were comfy and Constance looks VERY comfy! glad you enjoyed the day. Would love to see those doll sized costumes. Might have some serious envy if I did see them. Thanks for another fun outing
The Merry Widow costumes were gorgeous! If we lived closer to New York, we might see if William Ivey Long ever made costumes for six-and-a-quarter-inch high dolls…
We loved the Hans Sachs character – very noble and selfless, and full of ideals, yet wickedly fun when in teasing mode!
Constance’s chaise lounge looks so comfy that it would be hard to not drift off, even if only for a teensy floatie snooze on the waves of the music….
It is Constance’s opera chair, she sits there on Saturday afternoons and listens on the radio when there isn’t a live in HD broadcast in the theatre.
Yesterday, because of the broadcast times, after watching it live in the theatre for six hours, we could have come home and listened to the third act all over again on Pacific time, but eight solid hours of Wagner might have been just a bit too much even for Constance!
Not surprising to take a little nap during a 6 hour Opera, but dear Constance, you do not want to miss much. You have educated us quite a bit on opera and we appreciate it.
Constance will listen to the cd when we get home, although she doesn’t think she missed any!
