Musical Beds
Opal and Agathe have been talking in their most persuasive voices to their favourite photographer. They have seen and sat upon a bed he made a few years ago, and now they are begging for another. A small donation to the coffee fund of a local luthier resulted in some head and foot boards just the right size for Hitty.
A simple bed is made by drilling and pegging the ends into the bed platform…
Or, for a stronger (but more fiddly) bed, rails are pegged and glued to the end boards, and a platform then attached to the rails…
…Opal and Agathe say the beds are PERFECT either way, though a little gluey just at present…

…The old bed is so lovely, the block sisters can’t wait for the new bed frames to be done, and mattress and bed-clothes produced…
In fact all the Hittys love these beds – just imagine what melodious dreams will ensue!

These are most lovely…your QHs will sleep well.
They surely will, dreaming of Bach!
The new QH beds are so beautiful! They will indeed bring the sweetest of dreams to the QH’s!
They need special bed linens, the human had better get sewing!
The beds are charming! And the mattress that shows in the last photo is a perfect miniature! Lucky, lucky girls!
That is the first one I made, while I was still figuring out how to make good doll mattresses!
What a clever and adorable set of headboards!
The bridges work really well – I was inspired when my son’s double bass needed it’s bridge replacing, just scaled it down and got a couple of cello bridges, which I think are perfect Hitty bed ends!
a dormitory for Hittys, the beds are perfect, sweet dreams.
Thanks – the Hitty thank you too. I do love the idea of all the tunes in the bridges seeping out into the Hitty dreams!
Exquisite!
Nice to have a handy person around (with tools) who can help an idea become a reality!
so very clever! And I can only imagine what sort of bedding you have planned for these beautiful beds.
something melodious, I think!
These beds looks so lovely! Will Opal and Agathe’s favourite photographer make one of these musical beds for me? 🙂 Please!
I think he is going to stick to beds for our Hitty cupboard, but he is pleased that you like the idea well enough to ask.
So much talent – those are lovely beds
Aren’t they delightful? They’d be a good bed for a visiting Hitty musician!
How innovative! Would they be rocking cradles if the bridges were used upside-down?
I think not, since the top of the bridge (where the strings would have crossed it) is asymmetrical.
