Rosepath off the loom
The latest weaving came off the loom today…but first Constance and I wove some stars using a different tie-up to the trees and flowers done earlier on this same warp. We also untangled a few things…Constance even had to lie down under the working surface at one point, to untangle a knot in the base weft…
.
.
…and here she is untangling the base weft, before it got thrown through the shed…The linen was very snarly, and had to be fiddled with at every throw…
.
.
…and it got quite exciting when we were working with two wefts at once, whereupon the weaving got slow and the untangling got entertaining for a while.
We wove the very last little bit of supplementary warp using red cotton, which did not tangle!
Then we cut the warp off the loom, and separated our pieces from out weaving friend’s pieces. We will secure the ends, then wash and hem the pieces…check back in a few days to see what they look like all done!

Constance’s and your patience is truly going to yield a beautiful piece of woven majesty. Can’t wait to see the fruit of your labors.
Me either, I have to zigzag or overcast the edges, and then wash and press them and then hem them…so it will be a day or two yet!
It looks wonderful already. You have such a great helper, it just HAS to be great!
Thanks very much 🙂
I can usually find a use for small precious pieces of cloth…and I’ll show you as soon as I do.
How handy that Constance is. So nice to have the right size helper to slide between the layers for you. I have to admit that this weaving thing just amazes and stuns me. IT looks so very complicated. I applaud Constance and her human!!! Cant wait to see the creations when they are done.
The pattern is just a series of numbers, so you know which of the 12 pedals to press down…luckily someone else figured all that out! Constance is a great encourager and helper!
Sorry it was so tangley- were you spritzing the bobbin with a spray bottle? Linen loves water and mellows out when it’s not thirsty. I am sure you already knew that, so please don’t be offended by my asking. I look forward to seeing your lovely towels when they are finished. Will Constance be rewarded with some hand wovens since she was such a great help? 🙂
The bobbins all soaked in water before going into the boat shuttles. We didn’t spritz as we wove…I am so glad it is off the loom!
Unbelievable that you and your helpers weave such gorgeous things.

I have had good teachers and friends to weave with! Constance is my apprentice, someday she’ll branch out on her own, weaving up a storm!
With Constance’s help weaving, this is going to be turn out just fine – Can’t wait to see the finished piece.
We’ll find out soon.
it is always an exciting time when you cut off a warp. can’t wait to see what you make with the pieces. I could do with a helper like Constance.
Constance is good at undoing little tiny difficult knots!
