Comox Valley Wildberries
All the Quimper Hittys are fond of wildberries, and small hands were busy for hours picking them. Outside of Linnea’s new home is a forest path which leads to secret patches of delicious berries! After supper we went for a stroll…
Tatty and Dulcie spent quite a long time in the autochthonous blackberry patch…
so did the smallest human in the family…
…they were in blackberry heaven!
As well as berries, wild animals abound in the woods though we didn’t see many up close. Constance and Linnea did rest in the pileated woodpecker cavities in this cedar tree…
…and further along the trail, they met a giant liquorice slug…they were glad it was not one of the 25 cm long ones!!!
…the red huckleberries were ripe everywhere…after filling our punnet (not that simple when a two-year-old is helping), we turned around and headed back to the cabin.
On the way back we rested in Linnea’s favourite shady glade – this is Twinflower – Linnaea borealis. Linnea feels right at home in this woods!
Unbelievable wealth in this post – where would one begin? Thank you for the glimpse of Paradise!
You are welcome! We loved the forest and berries and visiting our family – Paradise indeed!
congratulations on your 800th – each one a fascinating glimpse into the Hitty’s adventures. Amazing that there are already ripe blackberries.
The feral large Himalayan ones are not ripe, but the sweet little wild west coast ones are a bit earlier! I know where there is a secret patch of them right here in Victoria and ate a couple yesterday! Thank you for the congrats – it seems like an awfully big number!
Can scarcely believe you have made 800 posts!
All these yummy berries right outside the door. You can see why they left the city.
I can scarcely believe it either, but apparently so! Thanks for convincing me to start blogging – we’ve all been having fun!
EIGHT hundred?! And we were patting ourselves on the back for our five hundred episodes of Ellen and Pink!
Sigh. Thank you for your eight hundred days of delight.

I was shocked myself, but numbers aren’t everything, Ellen and Pink are glorious and they are one of my inspirations!!
The 800th? Congratulations quimper hitties! Linnea so enjoyed having her friends visit and heartily invites them back any time!
The Hittys heard that and they are rushing around packing their suitcases for a return trip. We’ll be back as soon as we can!
