Tansy Rocks!
Tansy was very pleased to get a second visit to Balance Rock…
There are so many fascinating varieties of rocks on this beach alone – if Tansy wasn’t already hankering after an Archaeological career, she would be tempted to take up geology!!
This sandstone looks just like a pile of sand patted into shape – it’s a wonder it doesn’t just dissolve with the wave action.
Actually – the sandstone IS dissolving, but relatively slowly!
Some rock is being scoured by other rocks, leaving smooth-sided round-bottomed bowls.

…Tansy was very taken by this lovely little scouring-rock boulder. The photographer got a very nice picture, but did not offer to start carrying a rock collection home for Tansy.

The wonders and beauty of nature are seemingly endless.
Tansy climbed a little higher to admire it all the better.
What an incredible view!

Great title! Tansy does rock. And she does rocks too.
Rocks Rule!
What a glorious, picturesque spot! Balance Rock is amazing!! Lucky Tansy and lucky readers who get to vicariously visit with Tansy and her favorite photographer.
Yes – I am glad to have a glimpse of the lovely places they visited!
We love rocks here at the Country Hittys and are so admiring of Tansy’s adventure. As always those are really nice photos.
We are happy that she gets to go off and do exciting things, but are always happy to have her back again and telling us about it!
Thank you to Tansy and her photographer for such wonderful chronicles of her scientific studies! Lovely!!!
They both spent a lot of time climbing around on rocks on this trip – it was very nice that they took some time to admire them too!
How fun to see these rocks from Tansy’s and fav photographer’s point of view. I can relate because when younger and rocks would be delivered to our driveway, I’d scour them for the variety they held. But, our little rocks pale in size to the ones Tansy has pointed out. Thanks for the lovely photographed sites.
Tansy’s dream is to visit the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland!
Nature really is amazing and I love all the different textures Tansy saw on these rocks.
Hopefully one day Tansy will get to visit Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland – I know it is on Hitty Madge’s wish list of places to visit…and it is not really that far from us in the grand scheme of things.
All the variety of rockish textures concentrated in one small beach – truly astonishing!
One of these days we’ll get to the giant’s causeway! Madge too!
