Mayne Island
Opal and Agathe visited Mayne Island, and took a little walk to Edith Point.
Their path meandered through Arbutus woods…
…over and around large and small rocks…
….across mossy logs…
… into Salal bushes…
…the girls have plans for these berries…
…a Salal berry feast!!!

Fun time for your girls.
It was a pleasant walk for all of us after a nice lunch!
Ohhhhh how lovely! I have never been to Mayne. I have never heard the word, ‘vug’, but will certainly use it in Scrabble now, and I’ve never had or seen Salal berries. This morning’s post was full of new and fun things for me- thank you Quimper Hittys for a sweet adventure! 🙂
Vug is one of our favourite words! Salal thickets abound on the West Coast, perhaps you need to visit during Salal berry season!
I agree! 🙂
the photo of them crossing the log is my favorite! What a sweet little adventure to share with us. Thank you.
They did enjoy crossing the log – they were feeling very brave, and very glad to have a way to cross the perilous chasm below!
We have salal bushes here too. Are the berries edible by humans??
Salal berries are hairy, sticky and seedy, but eminently edible!
How fortunate the girls are, to experience Mayne Island. Those berries almost look like blueberries.
