Off Again
After working on Quadra Island for a month, Tansy and her Photographer had a very short visit to the Hitty cupboard. They were home just long enough to do some laundry and re-pack for another stint in Haida Gwaii. Tansy was itching to get back up there to meet her friends, and spend more time on a boat!
When they landed, the Islands were being lashed by the tail end of Hurricane Ignacio, and though there was lots of rain, strong winds and a big swell, it was not enough to deter the archaeologists, or the rat eradication crew that traveled down with them…
This is what it looked like earlier this summer in the protected inlet near the Bischof islands. Both crews are based there, on a delightful float camp with lots of amenities. We won’t know how they doing until they get back in a couple of weeks, because they are completely “off grid” in that spot….I hope they are having fun!

You have a very versatile group of dolls in the QH cupboard. I will look forward to Tansy’s adventures once they’re back on the grid….but how nice to be free of it for a time.
I think all of the dolls in the Hitty Cupboard are game for an adventure, but Tansy is a particularly hardy traveller…I think the Photographer enjoys being off-grid and gets a lot done in the evenings without distraction!
What a beautiful place! I look forward to the photos on their return 🙂 Hope they are having a wonderful time!
It is a beautiful place – I hope the weather is good and the Archaeology productive!
Thank goodness for the rat eradication team. Tansy could have had a run-in with those rats and have it spoil her whole trip!
I think I have heard of mouse/Hitty encounters that left the Hitty somewhat altered in appearance – I dread to think what a hungry rat could do to a little wooden doll!
I know that Tansy will have grand adventures to report. I read all about this rat eradication program for the islands…fascinating and sounds like it is working!!
It would be very good for the birds (ground and tree-nesting ones) if the rats could be eliminated!
