Straw Hats 5 and 6
Some of the Hittys are enthralled with the latest squashy hat reconfiguration… the previous very nice bonnet (#5) has been given over to Mary Ann, who is most comfortable with Plain accessories…
…but Zipporah fell head over heels for the new beribboned and rosetted extravaganza.
They will always be friends, even if their opinions differ as to what constitutes good taste.
Excellent taste! declares Hitty Hedydd. We’ve all enjoyed this cavalcade of hattery, but really, that be-flowered and be-ribboned bonnet is the absolute bee’s knees.
Please thank Hitty Hedydd – we appreciate all encouraging remarks on our Hitty Hattery and plan to keep practicing our new hobby!
I agree that the be-flowered and be-ribboned bonnet is spectacular. Zipporah has wonderful taste in hats!
All the ribbons were salvaged from Patisserie Daniel and the pretty flower was a gift from a Hitty friend! We are having fun!
YES! to the Hitty friends’ joint shared opinion on the nature of true and enduring friendship, so very Jane Austin-ly put, too! Are they quoting her, perhaps? Or just inspired by her? “They will always be friends, even if their opinions differ as to what constitutes good taste.”
#5 does remain a masterpiece, for those more Quaker in outlook.
Inspired, by I think, or at least not quoted deliberately! We’re very happy that you like Mary Ann’s Plain bonnet – she has a felted wool winter bonnet, but thinks this one will do very well for the summer farm work!
My girls are now clamoring for bonnets!! They love ALL of your creations!! Thank you for the lovely photos and the great inspiration.
We are enjoying the floppy hat transformation project, but hope is isn’t causing too many ructions in the Country Hitty cupboard (or others)!
These are just amazing, you have so much imagination and creativity.
Thanks! We are amusing ourselves with hopeful thoughts of summertime!
will there be a parade of bonnets with the girls in their finery?
I think that would be a great idea! Maybe for easter…
Your hats are amazing!
Hatting is amusing me, and keeping my thoughts directed towards spring. In winter we huddle indoors during the winter torrential rainstorms, but I do enjoy the time and opportunity to work on projects 🙂
