New Backyard Neighbours

Any One Home?

Any One Home?

The new neighbours across the hedge have moved in…

peep

peep

…Tatty, Gilly and Carrot Soup went to pay a social call.

Cheep Cheep

Cheep Cheep

The new neighbours seem friendly enough but somewhat limited in vocabulary…

Cheep cheep Cheep

Cheep cheep Cheep

…and seem to want to peck your hands rather than shake them…

hmm

hmm

…and Gilly thinks their table manners are interesting.

  1. That’s what makes Hittys so wonderful. What humans would call terrible table manners, Gilly see as interesting. They see the world without judgements. They teach by example and don’t even realize it.

    • So far, Gilly has learned cheep cheep and peep peep…no doubt, cluck cluck will come along eventually, and bawk bawk, and eventually buck, buck bucaw! The neighbours are hoping that cock-a-doodle-doo doesn’t start happening!

  2. Too funny, love the photo of the girls peeking in the window of the new neighbors. Have they named the hens?
    Fun stuff!

  3. You know, beings from a different variety of life are going to always be interesting, aren’t they? I think learning hen-speak (as mentioned) might be helpful in securing some eggs…..???
