Pixie Nest
A big windstorm knocked a wasp nest out of our Pear Tree…
…Tatty and Carrot Soup thought it was the most beautiful nest ever, and wondered if the inhabitants survived the storm.
They called, and they knocked, but no one answered so Carrot Soup crawled in to check.
She found evidence that this was a Pixie nest, not a wasp nest after all…
And since Carrot Soup already has green footwear, Tatty convinced her to try on the Pixie Shoe…
…Look, it fits!

A wonderful story! Everyone needs their Pixie Shoes!
Carrot Soup certainly agrees – now she has a pixie shoe she doesn’t want to take it off!
What a coincidental happening! Perhaps there had been a prince who had dropped by, accidentally dropped the slipper that was looking for it’s owner! What a fun adventure for these two lovely dolls.
Hmm – I hadn’t thought of that…I wonder if Prince Tamino is at all related related to Tam Lin?
I am totally enchanted and somewhat envious…as a child I spent hours building fairy houses and nests to entice visiting wee folk…all to no avail . When just think all I needed was the magic of HItty!! Wonderful story and photos.
I have always believed in tomtens at least. It seems perfectly reasonable to me that there are pixies too. When we were in Iceland it was no laughing matter.
Magic is afoot…..
It is! But only one foot, unfortunately!
ahhhh… perhaps the single shoe will call the other one to it?
What a fun and courageous Hitty to look inside a hive. I’m sure Tatty was relieved to see that Carrot Soup didn’t come out of it with more freckles/stings on her face. How enchanting to find a Pixie nest. I can relate to Sherry looking for them as a child…I must confess that I still look…Perhaps they were with Sherry all along. Wonderful story.
Carrot Soup and Tatty did enquire first! I think wee woodens are immune to the stings, at least they seemed unconcerned about the possibility…I love the idea of wee folk of all kinds.
only one shoe? perhaps its mate will fall out of the tree. I love those papery nests, not so much the occupants. Carrot Soup was very brave crawling in there.
I wouldn’t want to meet a nest of angry pixies either – mercifully the nest was abandoned. It seems to have been in haste, since one shoe was left behind – only one.
Well, if the shoe fits, wear it and wouldn’t we all like to have a Pixie shoe or possibly, come to think of it, TWO!!! This was such a fun chapter and your photography is wonderful!! Billie
The shoe does fit, and Carrot Soup is planning to have fun wearing it!
