A bit of finishing-up
After the weavings came off the loom, there was a bit of repair and finishing to do…sometimes you can’t see the errors until the cloth comes off and the other side is visible. This error occurred when one of the top lamms split during weaving, and I didn’t notice right away. Luckily I could temporarily fix the Lamm with an elastic band, and the error is repairable after the fact with a bodkin and extra length of the right weft.

This rug was finished with a plain knotted fringe.
This rug was finished with a small turned hem, pinned and stitched
I managed to get a third very short rug/mat made at the very end of the warp…this last one has a plied fringe – very pretty when done with a two-tone warp, but also very time consuming to make, so I usually only do this on extra special weavings…
…naturally the cat says this one is hers!

This cat knows a good life!!! Storm watching on a comfortable rug!!! Life is great!
The cat was right, (she always is!) but she is glad the storms are over for now…
And, Constance was there all the time, steadfastly helping and full of encouragement I assume. Your work is lovely.
She certainly was!
I found myself trying to peer around the corners of the photos, as if I could take in a bit more fiber-goodness. Scrumptious colors and textures!
Ah well, you’ll have to make a visit in person some time!
Beautiful work.
Thank you!
Such sumptuous loveliness in your weavings! I hope that the loom is now fully functional and won’t have any more breakdowns. I love the photo of Constance stitching 🙂 Happy Weaving!
We were happy…thinking about another warp now it is getting cool and autumnal here.
a purr-fectly happy cat, and Constance looks happy too. Sounds like you and the loom are learning together, old or new they need constant attention. Like how the tartan weft looks.
She was purr-fectly delighted with the little mat. It took me a little while to remember the rhythm of this old loom, but the technique came back eventually… with a little adjustment here and another one there and I think we’ll get along.
The Bonsai Hittys and I certainly do enjoy seeing the weaving products! We all know that it will never happen in our house, so we thrill at seeing in yours!!
I am glad you like to see the projects…it is fun for us, though the planning stages still alarm us slightly…I perhaps need to spend more time on that end of the process.
The finished rug is soooooo pretty. The colors are cozy and vibrant. The last frame was so “cat typical” Anyone who has a cat understands that all new items that come into their home get cat tested before their human may use/claim it. Loved it.
The cat is purring in your general direction, and says with dignity that all cats get first choice, always.
Always a joy to see your creations, beautiful colors. Love the photo of Constance and Cat! Very cozy.
The warp was there on the loom so I had no choice about that and I was happy to use up my leftover prepared weft “rags”. The last few bits went to my friend who is planning to make some tea pot mats like I did in a previous project.
This is just beautiful and my very favorite picture is with your lovely cat enjoying the weaving and I guess, claiming it!!!
She is a pretty cat, and she has definitely claimed that mat!
Your weaving is amazing, it must be quite relaxing and fun to do. Glad you are able to repair it as well.
It is fun, and relaxing, though it is work too – lots of upper body movement!
i love the work and your photos!!!
Thank you!
