November Russet
It has been chilly and cold – we even had snow a couple of days ago!
.
.
That means that Constance can help to pick the Russet Apples, since now they have had a frost.
.
.
We picked several baskets of apples…
.
.
…which annoyed some of the birds…
.
.
…but now we can make some pie, or crisp, or sauce, or tarts…Yay!
.
.

I learn so many interesting things from you and you hittys…like russet apples need a frost before they are table ready. Who Knew!
That is what the “old wives” say around here anyway…they are supposed to be sweeter after a frost.
Charming….
We enjoyed the day – chilly but a nice sort of glow in the sunny spots…the baskets of apples were a bonus!
ahh, tasty!! We just got to attend Apple Days at the Mennonite Market….huge wooden bins full of at least a dozen different apple varieties. Looking forward to hearing what you make with your bounty.
So far, a delicious apple crisp…more to come no doubt!
