Peppercorn Day
We found a spice jar in a consignment shop just in time to celebrate Peppercorn day!

Jane is trying to think of recipes requiring pepper…
The Spice Jar has a tin lid, and is from the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest, the original is dated 1668.

Pfeffernusse Cookies?
That would be a good idea! I ended up making caraway cookies with Jane…but in Renaissance times “pepper” in several languages including English, just meant spice…so it was a good day to make spicy cookies of whatever kind!
Wonderful spice jar. Found just at the right time.
It is a great spice jar! We really like it!
It seems that this spice jar is perfect for the QH household. I continue to enjoy your narratives…delightful.
Thank you very much…we enjoy creating them!
I’ve never heard of peppercorn day…it’s fun to have days to celebrate.
You find the best treasures in your consignment shop…and other stops. Love the color of the pottery and the lid…looks like pewter.
The lid on the original was made of tin according to the label…it is an interesting configuration for a spice jar!
That is such a nice “find”…have never seen anything quite like it. I have an antique salt cellar but nothing for
peppercorns. thanks for sharing your new spice jar with us.
You are welcome…we were happy to have the inspiration for making spicy cookies today! Yum yum!
