Friday Lilacs

trunk

Arianell and Mudlark climbed up the twisted trunk of a venerable Lilac down the road…

Stem

…while Vanilla and Guttersnipe attempted the young stalks of a much smaller and younger bush in our back yard.

.

swing

Sometimes they found it necessary to swing in the branches to get to where they were going to…

…and sometimes they did it for fun!

Sniff

The flowers in this old bush are a rich dark purple…

…and this different variety in our back yard has dainty and pale flowers…

Heavenly

…but they all smell wonderful!

Sitting

Mudlark is so glad she was excavated from the muddy river…

…and Guttersnipe is so glad that she was rescued from the antique store.

Bouquet

…a Friday Bouquet for Jane.

The Quimper Hittys love flowers, and kindness, adventures and memories. We are sending blessings to all our friends and best wishes for a joyful first weekend in May.

  1. I want to, am crying after reading this. There are so many elements in this narrative that touch me deeply, most of all, the advantages and blessings of living in a family that cares, comes together and enjoys the gifts that come one’s way-flowers, companionship, “swings” in the trees and Friday bouquets! We here in our spot in the Midwest are about to see the lilacs ready to bloom too yet daffodils are still open! It is a glorious time of year.

    • I love Lilacs, and I love that they brought you such memories and reflections. How delightful that you are about to see the Lilacs bloom in your neighbourhood, and I hope they bring you joy – a feast for the eyes, and the nose!

  2. A-w-w, Becky, I feel the same way do you. This is such a touching post.
Quimper family, thank you for this beautiful narrative, you bring all of us into your heart and in doing so, our hearts have grown.

  3. So lovely to have an early glimpse of lilacs in bloom as part of a very sweet story. We won’t have lilacs for a few weeks yet but we do have lovely daffodils and grape hyacinths.

  4. what a fun day the girls had…and to spend it among the lilacs. Here in Mo the lilacs have nearly finished blooming..now we await the honeysuckle and roses! oh and the iris…..so much to be happy for. And to that I add that I am happy to have the Quimper Hittys and Human in my life!!

  5. Lilacs are one of my very favorite flowers. The scent is heavenly. It’s wonderful that the girls get to enjoy the lilacs up close and personal. Climbing within the branches has to be so much fun. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
