Rescue!
Another fierce storm filled the back yard with water, so Gráinne invited Floradora, Arianell and Tipsy out for a little row in the dory…
.
.
…they rowed around on the lawn for a while…
.
.
…but then Gráinne heard a pitiful sound…
.
.
…so they made their way over to the woodshed…
.
.
…where the cat (after a night of mousing) had found herself surrounded by water.
.
.
Cat was very relieved to be rescued…
.
.
…and extremely happy to keep her paws dry…
.
.
…all the way back to the Hitty kitchen.

Intrepid Grainne! and brave crew to head out upon the waters – even the ‘muddy waters’. They are all so well-equipped and prepared in spirit to join Grainne in her own spirit of adventure. They made a great Emergency Rescue team! Appreciation abounded in me for the photographer being right there to capture it all, for us all – so expressive…
It was very muddy! The cat was affronted at being trapped on the woodshed island, and very glad to be rescued!
The QH Hittys once again make the most of the days that are in front of them. I trust you don’t have a basement? We need them here but with all that water in the yard, mmm, there would be water inside. So glad for the feline rescue.
We have no basement, thankfully! Sitting on clay, the water has nowhere to go, but does recede eventually. The girls were glad to rescue the kitty-cat, who was in turn glad to be back in the Hitty Cupboard after a trying time.
is that the big one for the season?? We had a transformer blow just as I was falling asleep, big flash of light and electricity out – back by morning. My garden is a lake too. Hope kitty enjoyed her cream.
It was quite the storm, with wind speed of over 100 km/h down in our neighbourhood- I certainly hope there won’t be another one like that for a while. Kitty did get a restorative dish of cream, and licked her whiskers neatly afterward.
I hope that the water didn’t make it to the inside of your house! Stay safe and warm! And, dry! We are in the throes of a huge winter storm…. perhaps part of the system that gave you the big rain. It’s intense!
The only water that got in was on the kitty’s paws, and the human’s gumboots! I hope your storm abates soon, ours was short in duration, though very intense.
The girls made a terrific search and rescue team. So glad it had a happy ending with cat being comforted by Floradora.
Grainne’s Dory ( with paddles no less) is amazing.
We love the dory, very delightful, perfectly Hitty-sized, and useful for rescuing benighted mousers in distress. We have such fun, even on a soggy soggy day.
Poor puss, and how good to be safe and warm in the Hitty Kitchen. Or should that be Kitty Hitchen? 🙂 I do hope she got her cream while the others had a nice hot drink to warm them up.
I am sure the Hitty kittys all think of it as the Kitty Kitchen, and the Hittys as their staff. The adventure did end with Hot chocolate for the girls and cream for the puss.
Such a daring and compassionate group! Wonderful photos and story!!! That looks like a LOT of rain!!!
It was!!!
