Stars in the Wind
Floradora went outside one morning to discover that the municipal workers had installed a little fence around each of our two Cornus Starlight dogwood trees – thanks, Oak Bay! It should forestall the deer from eating the bark, and also from rubbing their antlers on it in the fall…
.
.
…but unfortunately it won’t prevent them from nipping off any flowers in reach! Grrr.
.
.
We wanted to take a photo of the wee tiny flowers, which are starting to emerge, but it was a very windy day…so windy that a few unformed stars blew right off the tree.
.
.
Floradora rescued a star and put it into a floating bouquet along with some Heartsease, and some Blue Star Creepers!

Hi Floradora, Your little floating bouquet is such a great way to honor the fallen dogwood blossom.
It has been a pretty bouquet – we are kind of glad this one blew off – we wouldn’t have wanted to pick one!
oh dear! those darn deer just keep eating.
They do! and there are so many of them!
