Berry Early

Black Currant

Arianell is amazed at the number of blackcurrant berries on the bushes this year…It is early yet – they won’t be ripe yet for a few weeks, but there are loads and loads of them! She has dreams of jam, jelly and cordials.

Gooseberry

We even appear to have a gooseberry harvest this year.  Many fewer in number – perhaps only a small but respectable basket-ful! Maybe we can make a very small Hitty-sized tart!

There were only a couple of non-chilly days earlier in the spring when the flowers were out. This berry is getting a pink blush – Arianell approves!

Salmon Berry

The Salmonberries are luscious and juicy and very large this year! I guess cool springs, followed by a blast of heat, followed by more cool weather suits these plants.

Wild Strawberry

Best of all (from Arianell’s point of view) are the wild strawberries!  Hitty-sized fruit, low to the ground and heavenly sweet and delicious…

ooops

…she ate quite a few, and got berry stains on her fingers…

Solution

…but they were easily washed off!

  1. Arianell, you have everything a doll could ask for…a wonderful place to walk through and view such delicious upcoming berry delights and then a refreshing place to wash off any residuals. Thank you for the walk today!

  2. Arianelle is always a delight…and oh so many berries!! We had a late frost that seems to have ended my hopes of the red mulberry trees fruiting and my poor apple tree had so many blooms …sigh. But I shall enjoy your bountiful garden and the lovely Arianell.

    • What a shame about the frost, the Hittys will have to dance around the Mulberry bushes sans berries this year…and your poor apples too. I have been hoping to see wee apples on our little tree too, we had lovely blossoms but we had a pretty cold few days when they were out so the bees were not much in evidence…we’ll see.
