Bursting Forth
Floradora and Coriander visited the garden on the last day of March – everything is bursting forth! What beautiful clumps of Perennial Spinach (good King Henry)…
.
.
…and a healthy crop of Sorrel (Sorrel Soup is a favourite!)…
.
.
.
…and look! The Rhubarb is no longer lurking below the surface.
.
.
.
We counted about thirty apple blossom buds! I think that might be too many for our young tree, so we’ll have to keep an eye out. Hopefully some blossoms will set fruit, and we will thin them if it looks like being more than the tree can support.
.
.
But before that, the girls are hoping for a bountiful strawberry harvest.

You must be so encouraged to see so many beautiful green plants bringing forth so much food and upcoming fruit. They’re so vibrant looking.
It is encouraging…the winter seems to have been long and dark, but the sunlight hours are increasing – hooray!
it’s warming up, it looks like you are a little ahead of me. All very promising.
A bit of rain, a bit of sun…it must be April! Your garden will soon catch up I’m sure!
Always lovely to see some of the Quimper Hittys. Hoping that now I am starting to feel a little better that my Hittys might get a look in too!
I am so glad to hear from you! Greetings to your lovely Hittys and to you!
I have just sown some seeds of Good King Henry. It is lovely to see things coming up again. I am looking forward to future harvests too and trying not to ‘count my chickens’ too soon!
We love our Good King Henry plant – a scion of one my grandmother started in the 60’s. Such good spring greens!
what a lovely and fruitful garden… I am sure the girls will have a grand strawberry harvest to enjoy!! Love the photos
There are even more Strawberry flowers now – we are all excited about it!
So early those greens are popping out, how lucky you are!
We are very lucky to live in a temperate coastal climate!
