Bursting Forth

Good King Henry

Floradora and Coriander visited the garden on the last day of March – everything is bursting forth! What beautiful clumps of Perennial Spinach (good King Henry)…

.

.

Sorrel

…and a healthy crop of Sorrel (Sorrel Soup is a favourite!)…

.

.

.

Rhubarb

…and look! The Rhubarb is no longer lurking below the surface.

.

.

.

Apple Blossom

We counted about thirty apple blossom buds! I think that might be too many for our young tree, so we’ll have to keep an eye out. Hopefully some blossoms will set fruit, and we will thin them if it looks like being more than the tree can support.

.

Wild Strawberry

But before that, the girls are hoping for a bountiful strawberry harvest.

  1. You must be so encouraged to see so many beautiful green plants bringing forth so much food and upcoming fruit. They’re so vibrant looking.

  2. I have just sown some seeds of Good King Henry. It is lovely to see things coming up again. I am looking forward to future harvests too and trying not to ‘count my chickens’ too soon!
