Their sunflowers were blowing around in the wind!

The sunflower plants are so tall, we were worried that the whole planter might blow over, so we added some more stakes and ties!

The rest of the garden doesn’t mind the wind, and is enjoying the cool and rain!

Quimper Hittys 
Those are very impressive sunflowers. The Happy Gang have decided that they have to plant sunflowers next year, hopefully the deer won’t eat them before they grow big and tall. The girls look warm and dry in their wet weather gear.
We are completely overwhelmed with the sunflowers…we hoped for “big” but these completely exceed our wildest imaginings! Their wet weather gear gets a lot of use here on the west coast, it was one of the most useful things I ever made for them!
Your garden is stunning! It is all the more charming when it is entertaining the small wooden people.

I love rain and sunflowers, but I’m not crazy about the wind. Your garden is lovely and so are those rain slickers.
Wind is the price we pay for living so close to the ocean. There are uncomfortable things about it but we just have to adapt, both our approach and our attitude (and our clothing!) It’s better than being uncomfortable and irritated all the time, and we know that living so close to the ocean is such a gift in other ways!
It must be amazing living close to the ocean. We have a 45 minute drive to reach Santa Cruz and over an hour to get to Half Moon Bay. Ocean breezes are constant but as you say, beautiful and well worth the compromises.

My plants exceed the stakes by quite a bit now – they just keep growing! I might have to consider an alternative if the wind picks up again!
Maybe I will stick to dwarf sunflowers after all! Those are huge!
