A Plaited Twill Tea Towel
Ta Da!
In July, Constance and I finished weaving a plaited twill tea towel…

…and a few days ago the roll of finished weaving was unwound from the loom! Constance helped to cut them apart so we could retrieve the one we made!

Pin and press
We pinned and pressed the hems of our towel…

Stitch
…and machine-stitched them…

…Constance is very good at keeping the hem straight.

Next the towel had to be washed and dried – here it is hanging on the line with some other household textiles…it’s almost the end of summer so there won’t be many more days when things will actually dry outside!

Measure
We measured it before (54 x 77 cm) and after (48 x 69) washing. The warps are under a lot of tension during the weaving process and washing helps to condition and relax warps and wefts.

Hand Towel
I like to use my hand woven “Tea towels” as hand towels in the bathroom, but I have quite a few already.

Shall we give this one away? I haven’t decided but Christmas isn’t all that far away! Thanks to our friend for letting us participate in the weaving fun again!
