Quick’s Bottom
Because Opal and Agathe have tree-memories of lying in a bog for millenia, they seem to have a special fondness for swamps and sloughs. Today we explored around some of the low-lying damp areas connected to Colquitz Creek near Victoria.
Swan Lake and Rithet’s Bog are very nice, but our favourite is Quick’s Bottom!
There are many lovely places to pause and admire the flora…
…and the fauna…
The girls found a cute little ball of black fur…
…which eventually uncurled into an adventurous caterpillar…
They were amused by the cattails…
…especially the exploded ones…

Can we join in your wonderful adventure? The spider was our favorite!!! But funny enough, we fount a black furry ball also when taking a walk down the road this afternoon!
It must be little black furry ball season! We’d love for you to visit and come on adventures with us!
Opal and Agathe are just a delight! Loved the ball of “fur” and the whispers of the reeds. Enchanting!!
It was a lovely morning with the girls! We were very amused by the furry caterpillar. It seemed the wrong season for them, but we saw several of them!
Very beautiful, afternoon walk…and love the sound of sibilant reeds…and, learning a new word there! The girls are so winsome in this autumn adventure.
The autumn is a pretty time of year…we love the colours, and really enjoyed the walk today!
It’s wonderful how much the Hittys love nature, both flora and fauna!
Animals, vegetables and minerals too!
We love the yellow spider. Our Person’s home is very old and. as a result, we have rather a lot of spider neighbours. They are all harmless and we don’t quite understad why so many Persons are scared of them.
The caterpillar clearly wanted to go home with you! He would have made a fun pet, but is probably better off living in his natural environment. I wonder what kind of butterfly he will be one day?
We are about to hibernate for a few days. It is cold here now and Person is waitnig for the internet people to fix the jumping on and off-line probelm she is having with the old-fashioed dial up system she is using before posting or reading our favourite blogs. It is sooo frustrating when a Hitty types up a message and then it vanishes, so ….
Good night for now!
See you soon.
Love
Mary N-Q-Hitty xx
We like spiders too. Have you seen Min’s adventures with the spiders from a couple of years ago? This link might get you there:
