On a dig in the forest it is worth paying attention to the sounds. Tansy listened to a lot of scraping, sifting, murmuring and exclaiming…

…there was also a bit of gurgling from a nearby stream, and the soft grumble of the generator (needed to power the lights and equipment recharging stations)…

My goodness, since Tansy was there while recording the raven, was she able to pick up the language at all?
I think Tansy is more adept at tree-speech, but you never know. I shall listen out for any unusual warbling and cawing coming from the cupboard.
I remember listening to the ravens when we lived on SSI, wishing I could understand.
They are so conversational! Really seems like they wish we could understand them too!
That was amazing! We have ravens and crows here, but I didn’t realize they could make sounds like song birds- that explains some of the fascinating, but hard to figure out bird song that we hear from time to time.
The echos in the forest, and the variety of sounds is pretty amazing alright. Tansy was privileged to hear an entire discourse on some corvid topic or another!

I am pretty sure eastern Raven is similar, but I imagine there are some regional differences. We saw ravens in Iceland – their name in Icelandic is Hrafn.
wow! No ravens in this part of the world but we do have some large crows…But all I have heard them say is CAW!! thanks so much for the audio!!
We love corvid speech! So varied and conversational!
Caw is definitely in their repertoire!
