Red Stockings for Rose
Rose helped me knit some Hitty-scale red stockings.
.
.
We found some red-dyed Swedish single ply fingering weight yarn – perfect!
.
.
…knit knit knit…
.
.
…reduce at the toe, and draw up the last six stitches.
.
.
Stretch the ribbing…
.
.
…knit another one…
.
.
…how satisfying.
These red stockings are another version of Meg Blakewell’s The Tiniest Wee Socks pattern from Ravelry
Using fingering weight yarn, the pattern worked for me (and Rose), as writ with the following adjustments:
Casting on quite loosely;
picking up three stitches instead of four at the sides of the heel;
reducing the gussets until ten stitches around instead of twelve;
then adding two rows plain;
then knit two together, knit one, knit two together – then knit two together, knit one, knit two together again;
then break off the yarn and thread it through the remaining live stitches.

So,So sweet
Thank you very much! I was so happy to find this yarn, I think it works perfectly!
I do not have the skill set to make these, but they are WONDERFUL!!! Love them.
Thank goodness I have Rose to help me, some times it is just so fiddly.
well done, Rose will have toasty toes. It looks very finicky knitting those tiny socks on 4 needles.
Finicky – yes, a perfect description of those tiny loops and the needles slipping out at just the wrong moment…arg. At least they are quicker than the human-sized ones.
Adorable and well done!
Goodness what cosy toes! Those red stockings are just the best!!! Lovely job Rose and your human.
All toes are happy now – I have a few barefoot Hittys that are especially grateful!
Our temps are -1° right now and these mukluks look especially toasty. I do love Swedish red. Rose looks adorable in them.
Isn’t that the red wonderful? Rose and I feel all warm and cosy just looking at that colour – just knitting it is very uplifting!
Nothing like warm snuggly toes in January! Those are adorable.
Thanks! We like knowing our Quimper Hittys toes are warm!
