Red Stockings for Rose

Cast on

Rose helped me knit some Hitty-scale red stockings.

Ribbing

We found some red-dyed Swedish single ply fingering weight yarn – perfect!

…how satisfying.

These red stockings are another version of Meg Blakewell’s The Tiniest Wee Socks pattern from Ravelry

Using fingering weight yarn, the pattern worked for me (and Rose),  as writ with the following adjustments:

Casting on quite loosely;

picking up three stitches instead of four at the sides of the heel;

reducing the gussets until ten stitches around instead of twelve;

then adding two rows plain;

then knit two together, knit one, knit two together – then knit two together, knit one, knit two together again;

then break off the yarn and thread it through the remaining live stitches.

  1. Our temps are -1° right now and these mukluks look especially toasty. I do love Swedish red. Rose looks adorable in them.
