Tansy visits the West Shore of Kunghit Island 2018
Just as the Passing Cloud dropped anchor on the west side of Kunghit Island they spotted a blowhole, and a fin…
.
.
…and the humped back of a humpback whale!
.
.
On Shore Tansy found a lot of abalone shells…
.
.
…and some shells eroding out of a midden!
.
.
There was a swirl of sedge at the edge…
.
.
…and harebells in the mist.
.
.
There was quite a lot of sea wrack above the highest tide zone where it had been tossed by storms and wind…
.
.
…and a little urchin tucked under the bank.
.
.
Kunghit Island is a wild beautiful place, with evidence of human occupation from long ago, and the recent past. Responsible people like Outer Shores staff and visitors try to step lightly here and everywhere on Haida Gwaii.

These are my kind of treasures…right down to beautiful abalone shells.
There were so many Abalone shells! Tansy loved them too!
what an adventure. For those of us who are landlocked this is like a fantasy!
Isn’t that a wonderful place? Tansy is so lucky!
