Wave Quilt Pieces
Constance got out a pile of Kimono scraps…
.
.
…she is ready to tackle a paper pieced fan quilt. First she cut…
.
.
…then she stitched…
.
.
…then she pressed…
.
.
…and finally arranged them.
.
.
Next phase is to stitch them. That should be interesting! The templates came in a 200 piece package that called them clam-shells, but Constance thinks they are more like fans, scales or waves! Sixteen down, only 184 to go!

This quilt is intriguing. The color pallet is so pretty… can hardly wait to see how it looks when finished.
It will be some time before it is finished…there will be a lot of hand-sewing first!
Your quilt will be stunning. The fabrics are so beautiful and Constance’s work is so exact.
I think it will be pretty nice, though I have not done paper piecing with curves before. I am sure I can get the hang of it!
84!!??
Constance can sew, but she can’t count! I meant 184, not 84…I fixed it, thanks!
This is going to be spectacular! Will you join them with embroidery stitches over the edges like Victorian Crazy Quilting?
No, I think the effect of the fans or waves would be blurred by embroidery, so the pieces will be whip-stitched together from the back, leaving nice clean edges..
So pretty and precise!
Thank you! So far so good!
wonderful but a tad overwhelming to think about doing so many more!! Sheesh I can barely finish a tiny HItty quilt with precut squares….wait who am I kidding i have NOT finished one of those quilts! Constance is an inspiration.
One piece at a time is my motto! We will see how far we get with this project, but so far Constance and I are enjoying it!
getting pre-cut templates is a good start – but only the beginning! The fabrics are lovely. Have fun, I’m sure Constance will be a great help.
Constance is indeed a great help…we don’t quite know what direction the quilt will end up going, but for the moment, just making the little pieces is keeping us busy.
That is going to be a really beautiful quilt when finished.
I hope so! I like it so far, and there are a lot of beautiful fabrics still in the bag!
This is amazing! Your Hittys are so talented 😍
They are good company and always love to “help”!
