July Early Morning

After Rain

Perdita trundled her gardening stuff out to the back garden…

The flowers are so beautiful glowing in the morning light.

Perdita greeted the resident toad…

…and sniffed the snapdragon…

…and then sat in the cool quiet morning. Is there anything lovelier than listening to the birds in the early morning, surrounded by beauty that you have helped to create?

    • We enjoyed beginning the day with dew and birdsong! We found the string bonnet in Tenerife a couple of years ago – it is the very best sunshading hat that the Hittys possess!

  1. I’m with you, Perdita. It is wonderful to wake up to the songs of the birds and see color each morning. I do not want to take it for granted. Thank you for bringing it to mind. I too like your (jute?) hat.

    • We are glad to spend the quiet morning in our pretty garden, with you! The hat is made of coiled string with thread stitches – perhaps jute…we really like it, and haven’t seen anything like it before! Maybe we’ll try and make one – I think Perdita looks rather fetching in it!

  2. Yipes!! Perdita is taking the earthquakes in her stride. We aren’t used to them, so perhaps this isn’t as scary as it sounds.
Her flowers are beautiful, we especially think flowers grown in tree stumps are the loveliest of all.

    • No actual earth-shaking happened other than our favourite photographer attacking the sod with a new shiny spade…the Hittys were impressed with the size of the blocks he managed to cut, which did rather thump when they were tossed out of the new garden bed-to-be!

  3. Perdita certainly has the right idea…early morning delight. She looks so fetching in her wonderful hat. The stump garden is glorious and the new earthworks project appears to be the start of something beautiful.
