Birdwatching
Tipsy and Dulcie are going birdwatching…
.
.
…they had to climb up a rock…
.
.
…they thought that they saw some ivy so they climbed up to see if it was poison!
.
.
…and it wasn’t so they climbed back down.
.
.
They sat near the shore and looked at the sky in case a bird flew over…
.
.
…and they checked their Field Guide…
.
.
They saw four ducks, two Oystercatchers and twenty-one Spotted Sandpipers.
.
.
Then they walked over the bridge and collected a driftwood boat…
.
.
…and sailed home with their treasures!
.
.
They are very good bird watchers, and I love their binoculars.
They are very good at birdwatching! We enjoy going out together and nearly always see some birds. Youngest human thinks we should find some adjustable binoculars so that the Hitty could see out both eyepieces at once!
What a grand adventure. I love the driftwood boat especially. I think a sail could be rigged from the feathers.
Youngest human had that very idea, and played with the feather-sailed boat for much of the afternoon!
WOW! What a wonderful surprise story. Youngest member of the family really made my day. Hawk migration is under full swing now also. Our Woodsbluff Hitty’s have their scopes out and are looking upward too. Love to you.
How exciting to be able to see a hawk migration! This is the time of year we look out for Turkey Vultures, wheeling around overhead, getting ready to fly across the Strait of Juan De Fuca . We will also get rafts of winter ducks and some Trumpeter Swans that prefer our damp and dormant farm fields to the arctic in January.
So good to see the youngest human member of the family again as well as Dulcie. Adventures never cease in the QH household!
We haven’t seen each other since February, drat this virus! It was a delightful reunion!
Love Dulcie’s bright red bow with boots to match. The “littlest member” has a wonderful imagination, must get it from her grandmother.
I knitted Dulcie the red wool socks some time ago, to keep her wee bare toes cosy and warm…she has not taken them off since! Young human and I have fun together!
Great birding adventure! The youngest human is growing up!! love the photo of the girls looking out to sea. As always wonderful photos and story!!
The afternoon was lovely and warm, and the youngest human added Oystercatchers and Spotted Sandpipers to her bird list! Hittys were happy to tag along!
Lovely way to spend a day!
It was lovely – we haven’t seen each other in so long!
