Little Quake

Reminiscing

One peaceful morning a few days ago, Mormor was reading about days gone by…

.

.

loafing

…and the cats were variously loafing on her bed…

.

.

snoozing

…or on her carpet…

.

.

Mousing

…or mousing near the cupboards.

.

.

~quake~

Suddenly we felt a little earthquake!

Most of the cats were alarmed…the mouse too, (though the placid tabby continued napping).

.

.

Cream

But Mormor knew how to calm them down – a restorative dish of cream did wonders to restore equilibrium in the cats!

.

.

Tea

Not to mention a generous cup of tea for herself…

.

.

Cheese

…and a morsel of cheese for the mouse…

.

.

Restored

…peace was restored!

.

.

Based on a true story from a couple of days ago…our black cat Siyah emulated the sleepy tabby, and did not twitch a whisker.  We do live in an earthquake zone, but it was a very tiny earthquake, only 3 on the Richter Scale. We like tiny ones, as they are said to relieve the pressure on the geological fault lines, which may delay The Big One!

  1. I haven’t met Mormor before… she really is the perfect granny, isn’t she? Beautiful white hair, and of course the perfect archetypal granny shoes 🙂 I’m with you on liking the little earthquakes. We had one of 3.6 a couple of years ago: the sofa went for a little walk while we were sitting on it!

    • We all love Mormor, and I am glad you noticed her “old lady“ shoes…they are comfortable and Mormor says they go well with everything in her closet. We get little and frequent grumbles of earthquakes, not usually much to worry about, knock wood.

  2. Getting a perspective of this little quake from Mormor has been beneficial. She has reacted in a generous and mature way. She’s such a special “doll”.

  3. Mormor’s furniture is very beautiful. It fits a Granma’s home perfectly. Yes, and cats, as curious as they are, usually notice any abnormality in their environment. Our previously feral cat, Callie, has to check everything out- a stick or cord just might be a snake, for goodness sake, and requires checking. Her son Midnight, might just be the one to sleep through it.
Lovely photos and true story. We’re glad that it wasn’t the BIG ONE, too.

    • We found the furniture, a bit here and a bit there…a special friend embroidered the bed covers and pillow cases…another friend gave us the carpet. Mormor likes it all, everything has a history and is comfortable. Cats are all so individual, even Hitty cats!

  4. How can you come up with so many darling stories? Each one so very dear. You are a true story teller. I am a cat and dog lover and most of my life have had one of each living together. It’s fun to see Hitty kitties are just like our furry pets.
I loved seeing Mormor and the giant cup of tea she needed after the quake.

    • Mormor is very happy that our favourite photographer found that generous-sized teacup…it is very handy when an extra special cup of tea is needed! And though the cats aren’t picky about what dish is used for cream, the Hittys like the one with a kitty painted on it!
