Gingerbread Houses Big and Small

Storm

Another winter storm – this one has dumped 45 mm of rain on us so far – over half the month’s total precipitation just today!!

.

.

Snow

There were even some big fluffy clumps of snow! It was dark, wet, windy, cold and very uninviting outdoors…

.

Gingerbread

…but the human has been baking gingerbread!

Big House

We have an annual Gingerbread house-decorating extravaganza, this year somewhat altered: instead of everyone coming to Quimperland, the house structural pieces went from the human’s kitchen to the usual participants; they provided candy; we all decorated our houses separately; and then we all sent photos to each other.

House #2 in progress!

Happy afternoon

The Quimper Hittys had fun too – Tipsy, Floradora and Arianell found a tiny house to decorate…

Little House

…with tiny candies!!!

Candy

They were very tempted to sample…

House

…but were remarkably self-restrained, and stuck them all onto their tiny house with Royal Icing. Thanks to the Dollhouse Lady who sent me this sweet little Gingerbread house made by Lillipuce in Quebec:

Tipsy and Floradora are particularly pleased with themselves with the sweet little Hitty-sized Gingerbread house decorating efforts….

tempted

…but Arianell’s eye is on the big house – she thinks no-one will notice if she takes just one little lick…

  1. Youngest member is growing up into such a darling young lady. Love her braids and the expression on her face. I always notice how lifelike your Hittys are. The expressions on their faces are awesome. They seem to have come to life. All of your stories have been so uplifting during this pandemic. I know there are many people who have it much worse than others…but still it is getting harder and harder to be a Pollyanna. Thank You for interjecting these days with such sweetness and hope.

    • Thank you for saying so! The stories are small, like the Hittys…and I surely do believe that small acts of kindness help heal the bigger ills of the world, one tiny precious moment at a time. Sometimes we just need to notice the tiny positive moments as they flit by, and believe.

  2. I am with Arianelle…..a little lick ….or three!! What great houses, the wee one is super charming. This is such a fun tradition you have going. Glad the little human could participate even with the enforced social distancing!

Rain at your home and here we have WIND!!! Such wind….a small wooden person would blow away!
