Gardens with and without gnomes
Floradora went on a long walk one sunny spring afternoon…
.
.
…she checked up on the progress of her favourite dogwood tree…
.
.
…and visited some little fairy friends.
.
.
She walked along a stone wall…
.
.
…when she got as far as the clump of violets she sat down to sniff them…
.
.
…then continued along until she reached…
.
.
…the Gnome Bay family, which consists of several gnomes of various sizes and occupations.
.
.
They scoffed at the idea of going extinct (indeed there seemed to be an overabundance of gnomes in this tree).
.
.
After escaping their teasing jollility and with some relief, Floradora made her way through the lovely tulips…
.
.
…and arrived at last at her favourite tree, where she stopped for a restorative cup of sweet tea and cakes. These treats are always set out on this log for the relief of tired dolls, complete with friendly and encouraging cats.
.
.
Floradora was quite refreshed, and skipped home to the Hitty Cupboard. She thinks it would be a nice idea to put out doll refreshments at the edge of our road.

Oh Floradora, I think if we all could have similar walks in our lives, restoration would be abundant. I find picnics to be restorative and I thank you for your regular reminders of the lovely and pleasant activities in life.
We are so lucky, and so grateful to have Hittys in our lives – they remind us to take walks in our beautiful part of the world, and to play and they are good restoratives in and of themselves!
What a magical walk! That is one that I would love to take, and so would so many of my little wooden friends here!
The Hittys know where all the prettiest gardens are, not to mention the best places to rest and recuperate on the way home!
What an excellent idea, Floradora – to put out little refreshments for any passing doll friends – even in the countryside… Thank you for bringing me along on your Earth Day morning walk today!
Last year we put out cut flowers for people to take from time to time, perhaps this year we will add tiny refreshments for their dollies!
It’s wonderful to have a favorite tree to sit with. Floradora is such a sweet Hitty.
Floradora is a darling, she is a good companion when garden-exploring!
I would have been unable to leave that tulip patch….
That was a wonderful Tulip patch…my friend’s species tulips are just glorious, and somehow immune from the ravages of the urban deer – I might have to try some in my garden!
They’re magnificent! Love the broken colour and beautiful pointy petals.
Floradora has inspired us to take a long walk all around the place. And like dear Floradora we found a lot of flowers but sadly no gnomes!! The HIttys here also like the idea of setting out refreshments in a secluded spot. Thank you for a lovely visit.
It is so nice that it is flower season again…we hope your garden acquires some gnome friends – they can be quite hospitable when they are not teasing!
