Apples and Hickory Tots

Tots trotting

Two little Hickory tots trotted along…

.

.

Tasty

….they arrived at an apple!

.

.

Toes

They spotted some toes…

.

.

Tiny

…and were picked up until they could see all the tiny apples.

.

Then they sat on the shelf of the ladder…

.

.

Terriffic

…until it was needed for the bag of apples…

.

.

Trying

…so they went over to the swing, but they couldn’t get up any momentum.

.

.

Teetering

The young human gave them a ride in the apple-picker…

.

tons

…but they got dizzy, and went to sit in the bag of apples.

Young human was sent a sweet Hickory tot made by a Hitty friend – little red tot and little blue tot enjoyed the apple-picking outing very well, once they recovered from their ride in the apple-picker!

  1. The hickory tots are very dear, what a kind gift from the friend to young human. As always, the splendid adventures come alive with your photos and narrative. I suppose the tots have recuped by now from that ride in the apple picker?

    • It was a sweet and thoughtful gift from a generous and creative friend. Young human has been whispering and singing to her little tot for the last two days, ever since it emerged from the little shipping box! The tots are all fine now, and getting used to pocket rides!

    • She is kind to all the dollies – inviting them on fun excursions, and on rides in the apple-picker…lifting them up to view the tot-sized apples, and wiping the apple juice off their non-existent chins after they indulge in fresh apple-crunching!

  2. Oh, that was beautiful. I have a very faint memory of a Gentle man who was in the cabin next to ours when I was a wee human. We used to spend summers at the lake back then. Anyway, he was a woodworker and he would carve me little animals using nuts and sticks. They were very special little creatures that I played with until they finally fell to pieces. I miss those times.

    • It is a lovely thing to help a small human have fun with nuts and sticks (and pipe-cleaners, scraps and paint in this case) These kind people are treasures, their generosity long-lasting, and the memories they generate (however faint) are part of the soul of wee humans!!

    • The Hickory tots were game for a ride, though a little unsteady afterwards…young human was keen to share all the fun that she was having, a very amusing morning altogether! The afternoon was spent peeling, coring and slicing apples for the dehydrator, which was also delightful!

    • So thoughtful, and so much appreciated by young human – she has been lavishing attention on them ever since they arrived here! We love their little dresses and bonnets – and young human is keen to try making some for herself with the supplies also sent to us by the same friend!

  3. Memories came up while I was watching these beautiful photographs… To pick up the apples from the tree was the most beautiful thing… How delicious it was… I remember, I ate all… sweet days… Thank you dear Hitty Lady, Love, nia

    • You are welcome, it was a day of fresh ripe apples from the tree – wonderful, so delicious and so good to know where our food comes from! You are absolutely right – these are sweet days! Little girl, little dolls, beautiful apples, it is like heaven!

  4. What a fine outing for that pair of little nut heads. And it looked like the young human was quite handy with the apple picker and ladder. Fun and ‘fruitful” day!

    • Young human picked an entire bag full of tasty Gravensteins – with the help of the Hickory tots! She was very handy on the ladder, and absolutely loved operating the apple-picker both for acquiring hard-to-reach apples, and also for giving the tots a little excitement! Fruitful day indeed!

    • Oh I am sorry – this morning I am finding so many kind comments that slipped past me…The Hickory heads are a little disconcerting, we ended up painting one doll’s head with hair, gluing fuzz on the second one, and yarn hair on the third…perhaps you have seen the “Wild Fox Roams the Garden” post, where you can see the Hickory nut in the first picture? I love the idea of them being young Dryads too!

      • YES! I saw that the next day or so, and was interested to see what they look like naturally. Thanks for sharing that. And please don’t ever feel you have to (or ought to!) rely or respond to my comments 🙂 Hugs.
