Waffling About
Constance and I have been working on a Waffle Weave tea towel…it is a little complicated so we have to refer to the treadling pattern on a piece of paper until we’ve got the rhythm – Constance is very good at holding the paper, and keeping me on track.
.
.
She wishes she were big enough to help with the pedalling, but…
.
.
…she is just the right size to help wind the bobbins;
.
.
…and she likes to help to shove them along…
.
.
and through the web.
.
.
And it is actually fun to beat the weft in place!

Hooray it is finally done! Several towels were woven on this warp, and mine was the one next nearest the end, so we had to wait until the last one was finished! Here it is, fresh off the loom – the towel is 22 inches X 31 inches at first, but after hemming, washing and drying in the dryer…
.
.
…it has shrunk down to its final size: 18 inches X 22 inches, and is super soft and fluffy- a cheerful and pretty gift for a relative!

Your towel is so very beautiful. I admire and enjoy your weaving work. The companionship with Constance right there with you feels so solid, so helpful and so pleasant.
..as well as comforting.
Thanks so much…I feel that way about Constance, definitely…and comforting ❤
It’s extra nice to have our beloved Hitty’s helping us. I get comfort just looking at them, and realizing that the energy from thier parent tree is present.
Your towel is lovely.
It is so nice! I just love having help with my work, especially small, friendly, encouraging Hitty help!
so much talent in the Quimper home and cupboard! Beautiful weaving and such a fine helper!
We sure have fun, and love the results of weaving – thanks to my kind friend who has been sharing her warp with me!
