A Tree Girl
Sitka’s new dress has crows all over it, or maybe ravens. Ravens used to sit on her tree at SGang Gwaay…
.
.
Tansy helped her up so she could sit on the red chair.
.
.
It’s a nice place to sit…
.
.
and two can squeeze on together…
.
.
…but then they went out to the back yard and Tansy introduced her to her Alberta relative.
.
.
Sitka listened very carefully and discovered that the Alberta Spruce dialect is similar to Sitka Spruce. It will be fun to climb up into the spruce tree and chat about things once in a while!
.
.
The day was quite windy (only a gale says storm girl Sitka), but the whispering in the Cedar was also familiar to her…
.
.
…and she listened to the whistling in the pines, not shore pines like on Haida Gwaii but similar!
.
.
The language of the larches was not at all familiar, but Sitka is willing to learn…
.
.
…Sitka is making friends.
.
.
She has a very listening face…
She does! Tree-talk is very subtle, she has to listen carefully!
She’s remembering her life as a tree and making new tree friends.
She is! What memories she has in her xylems and phloems…maybe if I listen carefully enough I will be able to hear them!
Ahhhh…..
Sitka thinks human sighs sound a lot like wind in the trees – so she likes them!
Oh Kjerstin, I love Sitka’s precious face and the way that her dress remembers when she was still part of a tree and welcomed ravens to nest in her branches! Judith ________________________________
Thank you so much Judith, Sitka has many memories, and I think if I pay close enough attention I might feel them!
I can’t help it. I have sweet tears in my eyes viewing Sitka. I must have an inner child inside of me, because i truly believe that the essence of these trees are present in all of our beloved woodens. I feel honored to live with them and delighted to see other families who understand their special gifts and the gentleness they bring to all of us.
Long live the playful person in all of us – I am so glad you make it possible for yourself to believe and play, I am certain the world is better for it!
what a precious girl, I knew her dress would be special. Now, I’m on my way down the hill to bring you “Finding the Mother Tree”, I know Sitka will enjoy you reading it to her – and other interested Hittys.
Thank you for coming “down the hill” to the Hitty cupboard, and for lending me the book – I shall enjoy reading it!
So beautiful. These fabric patterns and colours are great. I loved so much. Welcome to my humble world, Thank you, Love, nia
Sitka is glad to be of this world, with all the beauty and even the pain.
Sitka is such a darlig!! She has great character and her dress is perfection! I really enjoyed seeing the girls together. Looking forward to the adventures of Sitka!
It will be fun to add her into the mix – she is sure to have adventures, and we’ll all have an interesting time together!
