Happy Birthday Finland
With a nice little jar, some dilute white glue and some Epsom Salts you can make a pretty tea light holder.
.
.
First paint the jar with diluted glue…
.
.
…then roll it in the Epsom Salts. Let it dry…
.
.
…and decorate it if you wish. We used a sprig of Rosemary, a little fragment of cinnamon bark and a pretend berry.
.
.
If you are Finnish you might put two candles in the window today…
.
.
On December 6th, Finns and people with Finnish ancestry place two candles in the window, to show that people would find a safe haven in the house during times of oppression…Happy 104 years of Independence, Finland!!

This is wonderful our Finnish friends will be happy, Thank you, Love, nia
We love little candles, and we always light two on December 6th!
A lovely tradition. I like the idea of two candles. Maybe the first one says “I am here” and the second one says “Be welcome”…
I like the tradition too – and nights are very dark in Finland at this time of year!
So simple, so soothing…so welcoming.
I love the little jars – the candle light looks so pretty through the crystals!
The candle holders are just delightful. So appropriate and welcoming for this special occasion, throughout the holiday season, and beyond.
We like them too – so cute and simple!
what a lovely tradition…and such pretty candle holders…thanks for the tutorial! Your resident artist is quite talented.
We do love to “make stuff” together! What fun!
That’s a great trick. And I learned something about Finland too! Thank you
Thanks! Also a little acrylic fixative helps keep the crystals attached!
