Quick Trip to Haida Gwaii

Dark and wet

First thing in the morning, before the sun was even up, Tansy and her favourite photographer got on a plane…

.

.

Massett

…and headed to Masset at the northern end of Haida Gwaii.

.

.

Waves

They got into a truck and drove south but stopped at a couple of places to breathe the delicious air of the islands…

.

.

Tree

…and to visit…hello Spruce tree – greetings from your sister Sitka!

.

.

Rocks

Tansy loves the winter beaches on Haida Gwaii with their fresh breezes, beautiful colours and salty spray…

.

.

Kelp stems

…tangles of kelp stems…

.

.

Kelp bulb

…and bulbs.

.

Claw

This was a crabby beach! Here is a big claw…

.

.

Crab

…and a shiny red crab carapace…

.

.

Green Crab

…and a knobby green one!

.

.

Balance

This is Tansy’s favourite rock…

.

Visit

…she is always glad if there is a chance to stop and visit…but sometimes there isn’t time and sometimes it is surrounded by water!

.

.

Rock

This time they had a nice little chat…

.

.

Rain

…and then they went off again to their accommodation at Jag’s…

.

.

Tea

where they warmed up with a cup of tea…

.

.

Sleeping Bag

..and Tansy ended the day in a sleeping bag.

.

.

Propeller

After some boring (to Tansy!) days of meetings and discussions, they got back on a plane to the Quimper Hitty cupboard…

.

.

Tales

…where she regaled her sisters with tales of adventure!

.

  1. Truly Tansy, with your photos and narratives, I felt like I’d been right beside you. You must have been so grateful to have been back to Haida Gwaii once again, visiting familiar spots and beings.

  2. Thanks for taking us along dear Tansy. Your favorite rock is very impressive and must have a lot of tales to tell…glad you got an update!

  3. Tasy has the best adventures! I love the photo of the girls all gathered about to hear of the trip. Tansy is a fearless explorer.

  4. Lucky you, Tansy! Your trip, complete with a warm coat, looks to have been fun.
We spent the last few days in a box. It was necessary as there was a flood in the doll play space and we had to be rescued by a well intentioned, but slightly rough builder who kindly tossed us and our furniture in the box to save us from the danger of having to swim incessantly for several days.
Never fear, though! The flood has been pumped out, the damaged pipe fixed and a new floor will be put down by Wednesday. Then we can return home.
    Lots of love,
    Mary and Roberta

      • One just never knows what adventures Hittys take when we take our eyes off them……Roberta Not Quite Hitty got kidnapped and taken off to South Africa once. We thought her lost forever, but she managed to get help from the grandfather.of the teenage kidnapper and made it home in just over a year. Now, she informs other Hittys that it is fine to talk to big persons she meets, but only when she has been properly introduced!
