Scrap Happy Golden Sweater
I bought a ball of Gold Marisol Inca yarn so that I could knit a glorious Dragon Touque for Lunar New Year
(click here to see that post).

When the touque was finished, I had most of a ball of yarn leftover, so I knitted a Hitty cardigan for Henrietta. Here she is wearing it in front of my sunrise quilt – the days are mostly grey and dull at the moment, and we needed a little more brightness in our lives!

Hitty Henrietta certainly brought sunshine to my gloomy morning, as did her happy sunshiny quilt! I hope the recipient of the wonderful dragon toque loves it. You do such lovely work!
Thanks so much! Henrietta is a sunshiny girl, and the young human absolutely loves her new year of the dragon touque!
Cardigan matches her golden hair!
It does!!! She says the golden sweater makes her feel warm and rich!
Is her skirt the periodic table? 🙂
It is – well spotted! Henrietta is our little scientist, I carved her during the Covid lockdown, and named her after our Provincial Medical Health Officer, Dr Bonnie Henry!
the colour is perfect for Henrietta and the quilt would bring sunshine into any dull, grey day. Is the youngest one wearing her touque?
Thanks – Henrietta loves the new cardigan, and they young human loves her dragon touque so much she slept in it!
sweet, I knew she would appreciate your work. I knit an “Indian sweater” for James when he was 6 or 7 with some of my first handspun. He too wore it to bed, I still have it in the trunk.
❤
Thank you for bringing golden life to the scrappy threads left from the toque as well as cheery sunshine to accompany this sweet little narrative. May your days be full of sunshine as the days progress. Becky J
You are welcome…It is sunny today! Yesterday we had a sudden cold snow shower, but it didn’t stick! I know spring is coming…
It’s a beautiful rich but quiet shade, and it suits her perfectly. Gold can be a terrible colour (anything from custard-skin yellow to stale mustard), but this is refined and elegant.
This is a very nice gold…it looks great with that sapphire blue! The guy at the yarn shop claimed there was no gold in the store (he didn’t mention custard skin or stale mustard) but there was this lovely ball of yarn, just exactly perfect for this project!
what a perfect color for Henrietta!! And what a wonderful sweater! Also I love the photo.
She loves this gold…there is more left over, and I am wondering if she needs a knitted dress!?
