Gráinne got a lovely present for Christmas, which she wants to share with Tipsy!

First she chopped up some fruitcake with her trusty cutlass…

Then she and Tipsy crumbled it into crumbs…

…and added a dash of rum (and some melted chocolate which we didn’t photograph since it was very hot and we had to mix it quickly!)

Two kinds of coatings were prepared…

Parchment
…and a cooky sheet with parchment…

rolling little balls
…then little balls of mixture were formed and then rolled in the coatings…

We made lots!

Party!
It’s going to be a fun New Year’s Eve party tonight with all these tantalizing treats!!

The human fruitcakes were a little scorched around the edges…this was a really good (and delicious) way to salvage all the work, even though it meant more work!

what a clever use of fruitcake crumbs! And it looks so tasty. Always love seeing Grainne in action….wielding her sabre!!! And to see her in an apron…my goodness, how versatile she is.
Gráinne is proud of her skeleton apron, even if it is only fish skeletons. She says it reminds her of Davy Jones’s Locker! She is our resident Rum Ball expert, so we were glad she was in the mood to cook today! She says they taste much better than weevily biscuits!
